Templates

Set it up once. Send it every time.

If you send the same agreement more than twice, it should be a template. Set up the fields and signer roles once. After that, every send is pick, fill in the customer, send.

Make a template

  1. 1

    Start from a PDF

Upload the document you already use, or scan paper straight into a new template with your phone.

  2. 2

    Add roles, not people

A template uses roles like Customer and Contractor. When you send it, you fill in who's who.

  3. 3

    Place the fields

Drag fields onto the page, or let Alana place them next to the signature lines. A fillable PDF's own fields come in with the file, and text tags typed into your document become fields where they sit.

  4. 4

    Share it with the team

Templates belong to the workspace. Permissions decide who can use them and who can create and edit them.

Fields that do the work

  • Calculated fieldsAdd, subtract, multiply and divide, plus SUM, MIN, MAX, ROUND and ABS. Quantity times price, plus extras, filled in as the signer goes.
  • Conditional fieldsHidden until they apply, based on what the signer picks in a checkbox, dropdown or radio button.
  • Linked fieldsThe signer types a value once, like their name, and it fills every linked copy on every page.
  • Checkbox groupsRequire at least one box in a group, or set the fewest and most a signer can tick.
  • RulesCheck answers as an email, phone number, ZIP code, number, currency or your own pattern, with the message the signer sees.
  • Every field typeSignature, initials, date, text, number, currency, checkbox, dropdown, radio, attachment, driver's license, stamp and more.

Ways to use a template

Each time you send a template, it becomes an envelope: SignMaster's word for one send, with one or more documents going to one or more signers.

  • Send it to one customer, from the web or the iPhone and iPad app.
  • Combine several into one envelope. Roles with the same name merge, so the customer signs everything in one sitting.
  • Bulk send it to a list from one CSV, one envelope per row.
  • Turn it into a public link or QR code, so anyone can fill and sign their own copy.
  • Ask Alana to start a draft from it for a named customer.

Plans

Free includes 3 templates. Solo, Crew and Company include unlimited templates. Calculated, conditional and linked fields, public links and fillable-PDF import work on every plan; bulk send needs a paid plan. Compare plans.

Good to know

  • SignMaster doesn't come with a library of ready-made contracts. Templates start from your own documents.
  • It doesn't import templates from other e-signature apps. Start from the PDF; fillable fields come with it.
  • Calculated and conditional fields look at the same signer's answers, not another signer's.

Questions? Answers.

Can I turn a fillable PDF into a template?

Yes. Upload it and its text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns and signature fields come in as SignMaster fields you can adjust.

How many templates can I have?

Free includes 3. Solo, Crew and Company have no template limit.

Can my team share templates?

Yes. Templates are shared across the workspace, and roles and permissions decide who can use them and who can edit them.

Does SignMaster come with contract templates?

No. You bring your documents and SignMaster makes them reusable. Have a lawyer write your standard terms once.
