Sign a PDF free.Or get it signed by anyone.
Upload a PDF, drop in the fields, then sign it yourself, hand your phone to the person across the table or send a link. Free covers 3 sends a month, with no card.
Starts with 14 days of Crew, then Free. Signers never need an account.

Three steps. Done.
The same steps whether it's your signature, a customer's or a whole team's.
- 1
Upload your PDF
Drag in a PDF from your computer or phone. A photo of a paper page works too: SignMaster turns it into a PDF.
- 2
Place the fields
Drop signature, initials, date, text and checkbox fields where they go. Or ask Alana, the built-in AI assistant, to place them for you.
- 3
Sign, hand over or send
Sign it yourself, hand your phone or tablet to someone in the room, or email a signing link. Each send is called an envelope: one envelope can hold several documents and several signers.
What's free. What's paid.
Free is for the occasional signature. Paid plans take the limits off.

Is a free e-signature legally binding?
The price of the tool doesn't change the law. In the US, the federal ESIGN Act says a signature or contract can't be denied legal effect just because it's electronic, and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) says the same in state law. E-signature laws by state covers each state.
What matters is showing who signed, that they meant to, and that the document hasn't changed since. On every plan, Free included, SignMaster keeps:
- Each signer's consent to sign electronically, given before they sign.
- A timestamped audit trail of each signature, with the signer's IP address and device.
- A certificate of completion added to the end of the signed PDF.
- A SHA-256 fingerprint of the finished PDF, saved with the envelope, so a changed copy can be spotted.
A few documents fall outside these laws, such as wills and some court and family-law papers. Are electronic signatures legal? goes deeper, and the electronic vs. digital signature guide explains the two terms.

Other free ways to sign a PDF.
Only need your own signature on your own copy? Your device can already do that.
iPhone or iPad
Open the PDF in the Files app, tap the Markup button and add your signature from the + menu. Step by step.
Mac
Open the PDF in Preview, show the Markup toolbar and click Sign. You can make a signature with the trackpad, the camera or your iPhone. Step by step.
Windows or Android
Adobe's free Acrobat Reader has a Fill & Sign tool for adding your own signature. Guides for Windows and Android.
These are fine for putting your own signature on your own copy. They don't collect anyone else's signature, and they don't record who signed or when. When someone else has to sign, or you want that record, use an e-signature tool.
Questions? Answers.
Is SignMaster really free?
Yes. The Free plan costs nothing and needs no card: 3 envelopes a month, 3 templates and 10 Alana requests for one person. New workspaces start with 14 days of Crew, then drop to Free unless you pick a plan.
What counts as an envelope?
One send. An envelope can hold several documents and several signers, and reminders or re-sends never count again. Paid plans have no envelope limit.
Do the people signing need an account?
No. They open a secure link on any phone or computer and sign. There's nothing to download and no account to make.
Can I sign a PDF myself without sending it to anyone?
Yes. Add yourself as the signer and sign it right away in your browser. You get the same signed PDF and certificate as any other envelope.
What happens when I use up the month's envelopes?
New sends wait until next month, or you can move to Solo for $15 a month for unlimited envelopes. Anything already out for signature finishes normally, and you keep every signed copy.
Is a signature made on the Free plan legally binding?
The plan doesn't change the law. Every plan records the same consent, audit trail and certificate. See are electronic signatures legal? for what the law requires. This is general information, not legal advice.
