DocuSign alternative

A DocuSign alternative with one price for your whole team

DocuSign is the name everyone knows, and for plenty of companies it's the right call. Small teams usually start looking elsewhere for three reasons: per-user pricing, envelope caps and features that sit on higher plans. Here's an honest comparison, with DocuSign's figures taken from its own pages as of October 2026.

Why small teams look for a DocuSign alternative

Both products call one send an envelope: one or more documents going to one or more signers. How many envelopes you get, and what each person costs, is where the two differ most.

  • Per-user pricing. DocuSign eSignature Standard is $30 per user a month on an annual commitment, or $45 per user month to month. A team of 5 on Standard pays $150 a month on the annual plan.
  • Envelope caps. Standard includes 100 envelopes per user per year on annual plans, about two a week, and 10 per user a month on monthly billing.
  • Features on higher plans. DocuSign's pricing page puts bulk send and API access on Business Pro and up, at $45 per user a month on an annual plan.

DocuSign figures are for eSignature Standard unless a row names another plan, read on DocuSign's own pages on October 9, 2026, at list price. Plans change, so check DocuSign's site before you decide. The full SignMaster vs DocuSign comparison has every row with its source.

What a year costs a team of five

Paying yearly, a team of 5 on DocuSign Standard pays $1,800: $30 a user, times 5 users, times twelve months. SignMaster Crew is $490 a year for the same 5 people, because the annual plan comes with two months free. A sixth person adds $360 a year on DocuSign Standard and $80 on SignMaster.

Envelopes change the math too. On SignMaster's paid plans there's no count to watch, so a resend, a change order or a second contract for the same customer never eats into an allowance.

Who should stay with DocuSign

Switching isn't right for everyone. Stay where you are if one of these is true for you:

  • You need an Android app. DocuSign lists iOS and Android apps. SignMaster has an iPhone and iPad app and runs in any phone's browser, but there's no Android app.
  • Your signers need more languages. DocuSign lists 44 signing languages. SignMaster has 6.
  • You need certificate-based digital signatures. SignMaster seals each completed PDF with a SHA-256 fingerprint, a certificate of completion and an audit trail, but it doesn't apply a PKI digital certificate to the file.
  • You need a full sending API or webhooks. SignMaster's public API covers embedded signing and reading envelope status and data. Webhooks aren't public yet.
  • A client or partner insists on DocuSign. Keeping it is simpler than arguing.

Who SignMaster fits better

Teams that send a steady stream of agreements and don't want to count envelopes or seats: contractors, property managers, agencies, freelancers and small offices of every kind. Crew covers 5 people for one price, and Company covers 15 for $99 a month.

You also get in-person signing on a phone or iPad, scanning, signing pages and emails in Spanish and more, and Alana, an AI assistant that fills the draft for you to review. Nothing goes out until you press send.

How to switch from DocuSign

  1. 1

    Start free

Every new workspace gets 14 days of Crew, no card required. Send your next agreement from SignMaster.

  2. 2

    Bring your documents

Upload the PDFs you already send, or scan paper, and save them as templates. Fillable PDF fields come in with the file, and Alana can place signature fields for you. SignMaster doesn't import DocuSign templates, so start from the PDF.

  3. 3

    Invite your team

Give each person a role: owner, admin, member or viewer. Crew includes 5 people, and more are $8 a month each.

  4. 4

    Let open envelopes finish

No need to cancel DocuSign first. Let envelopes already out for signature finish where they started, and keep copies of your completed agreements before your DocuSign plan ends.
